Teradek Cube-555 (TER-CUBE555) 1 Channel Composite Encoder, OLED, Li-Ion Built in 2.4G/5.8G WiFi, mic input, USB, microSD
Teradek Cube and Brik encoders provide a powerful, compact wireless solution for local monitoring and proxy recording. Both devices utilize high profile H.264 compression and support resolutions up to 1080p at 5mbps over dual band a/b/g/n WiFi or 10mbps over Ethernet. The Teradek Cube comes in HD-SDI or HDMI varieties, whereas the camera-back Brik offers HD-SDI inputs only. Each encoder has an easy to use OLED display for rapid configuration and a rechargeable LiIon battery (wireless models only), which enables users to swap external power sources without powering the unit down
Local Monitoring on iOS Devices
Watch your live video while you’re on the move. With the Teradek Cube, directors, clients, and others on set are able to monitor every live shot on their iPad, iPhone, and laptop with a delay as low as 1/3 second. Simply connect your device directly to a Teradek encoder over the 5.8Ghz Master Mode or to a shared access point, launch Teradek’s free TeraCentral application, and select the live feed you wish to view.
Cube also supports remote monitoring for productions that have multiple sets. For example, a Cube on Set A can transmit over the Internet to a decoder at Set B where the director can view the feed at near real time. This is also a fantastic option for writers and producers to keep an eye on production from their office.
On-Board and Remote Proxy Recording
Not only can you watch the action unfold in real time on your iOS device, Teradek encoders also offer free proxy recording capabilities on both HD-SDI and HDMI models for generating instant replays or dailies. Cube encoders sense when your camera begins and ends recording and instantly creates an H.264 file with identical timecode, filename, and start/stop times on a computer connected to your local network.* Alternatively, both encoders can save proxy files on their on-board uSD and SD card slots if your set lacks an extra computer hard drive.
*HD-SDI models only
The Teradek Cube 555, like the original, is a camera-top wireless video encoder. The unit streams via dual-band WiFi, an Ethernet port, or a single 3G/4G USB modem.
The Cube 555 includes all of the same great features of the original Cube such as a compact aluminum chassis, comprehensive transport protocol support like RTP/RTSP/RTMP/MPEG-TS, and a variety of camera inputs. To bring Cube to the next level, Teradek has added a variety of important new features such as:
Cube’s new OLED enables users to rapidly change and review the settings of their unit in addition to providing real-time feedback for filenames, recording status, and wireless connectivity. No longer are computers or iPads needed for configuration; every feature is a simple click away.
Cube’s built-in Li-ION battery will give users up to 2 hours of runtime, which allows for seamless battery swapping or quick broadcasts. The battery can also be charged from an AC adapter or even a suitable external battery such as an Anton Bauer.
MIMO Access Point
The new MIMO access point feature greatly improves wireless performance and enables special features such as wireless camera control for devices without a WiFi capability built in, and ensures improved connectivity from an iPad or Android tablets.
Cube now comes with a headphone output for immediate audio monitoring.
The micro SD slot enables Cube to save on-board proxy recordings in real time. The recorded files (.mov or .mp4) are automatically synced with your proxy server over WiFi or cellular connections.
Cube’s micro USB port will charge the new internal battery.
The new Cube also supports dozens of Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), including Ustream, Justin.tv, Livestream, Youtube Live, and many others.
