DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras
There are a few key differences between the two. DSLRs work in the same way film cameras do, a mirror inside the body reflects light from the lens into a prism then into the viewfinder. When you shoot the mirror flips, the shutter opens and the light hits the image sensor to capture the image. With mirrorless models, the light passes straight through the lens onto the sensor. A preview is then shown on the rear screen.
DSLR or Mirrorless?
Due to the reduced mechanics, mirrorless can be smaller and lighter. DSLRs have optical viewfinders whilst mirrorless have digital or no viewfinder. For film, mirrorless cameras are becoming more and more popular as many have 4K and the screen can be useful, currently, the lack of lens options is the main downside. Really it comes down to personal preference and what you intend to shot with your camera for. Try both and get a feel for which you get on with best.
